An AI citation is a link or named reference to a source inside an AI-generated answer, such as the supporting links Google shows in AI Overviews and AI Mode. Tracking how often an assistant names or links your site shows your visibility in AI answers.
Why it matters for your business: being cited is how an AI answer sends a buyer to you rather than to a competitor.
